Our Story

Long before there was a studio, there was the collecting.

Weekends disappeared into antique shops, auction houses, museums and art galleries—often in pursuit of something we hadn’t known we were looking for. We were drawn to pieces with evidence of another life: worn surfaces, amazing craftsmanship, forgotten paintings, objects whose histories weren’t always immediately apparent.

Our homes became the testing ground. Old things found their way beside new ones. Art moved from room to room. Objects were rearranged, reconsidered and occasionally allowed to be a little strange. Friends and family began asking us to do the same for them.

After years in our respective careers (venture capital and law respectively), what had always been part of our lives gradually became the work itself. This Is Home Studio grew from that instinct—not from an allegiance to a particular style, but from a fascination with what makes a room feel interesting, personal and alive.

Today, we bring that same curiosity to our clients’ homes. We want to know what you love, what you’ve kept, what you’re drawn to and how you actually live. From there, we use our eye for art, objects, proportion and the unexpected to create something that feels distinctly yours—often finding possibilities in a space, or in the things already within it, that might otherwise have gone unnoticed.

We believe the best homes take time. They accumulate art, objects, memories, contradictions and evidence of the people who live there. Our job is to recognize what makes your home and your story particular, build upon it, and introduce the pieces and ideas that can take it somewhere you may not have imagined on your own.

We aren’t interested in giving every client our version of a beautiful home. We’re interested in discovering what your version can become.

The Practice

We don’t begin with a formula. We begin with you.

Sometimes a project starts with a painting you love, an inherited piece of furniture, an object you refuse to part with or a room you’ve never quite known what to do with. Sometimes it’s simply a feeling—you know your home could be extraordinary, but aren’t sure how to get it there.

That’s where we come in.

We look for possibilities: in the architecture, in what you already own, in art and objects we uncover, and in combinations you may never have considered. We bring together furniture, material, proportion, history and contrast to create rooms that are beautiful, functional and unmistakably personal.

Contemporary pieces may sit beside antiques. Something refined may benefit from something primitive. A treasured family piece may suddenly make sense in an entirely new context. We aren’t interested in replacing your personality with ours—we use our experience, instinct and eye to bring yours more fully into view.

The objective isn’t to make everything match. It’s to make everything belong.

Our work spans a range of services, including:

• Full-home interior transformations
• Individual room refreshes and styling
• Art, objects and furnishings sourcing
• Curated pieces through The Collection
• Virtual and in-person consultations
• Specialized design guidance and space editing

We work closely with clients, builders, artisans and craftspeople from initial concept through sourcing, refinement and installation. Whether reimagining an entire home or editing a single room, our process is collaborative, hands-on and grounded in clear communication from the beginning.

Houston-based and working beyond Texas, we take on projects both in person and remotely, maintaining the same personal, hands-on approach regardless of location.

Our goal remains simple:

To create a home that couldn’t quite belong to anyone but you.
